The suburb

Farming country and the Emu Creek reserve

Emu Creek was settled by farmers from the 1850s to the 1890s, including several German vignerons. Being close to Bendigo, it now mixes rural residential holdings with traditional farming. A government school ran here from 1873 to 1947. Today the Emu Creek recreation reserve and St Stephens Church of England are the local landmarks.
