The Big Hill tunnel and range
Big Hill forms the southern part of the forested hills that ring the Bendigo Valley and is a highly visible feature on the approach. The route over it has been the main southern entrance to the valley since 1851. The Bendigo railway line runs through the Big Hill Railway Tunnel, part of a heritage-registered railway precinct. The Calder and Midland Highways pass through a prominent road cutting in the range.
