Harcourt North real estate
A rural locality across the City of Greater Bendigo and Mount Alexander Shire, settled in orchard and farm lots and home to Barkers Creek Reservoir.
The suburb
Barkers Creek Reservoir and old orchard lots
Harcourt North opened up for settlement when large landholdings were subdivided in 1892. In 1908 the area was divided again into smaller lots for orchards and farming. Barkers Creek Reservoir, opened in 1868 to serve local orchards and farms, still supplies rural irrigation. It allows fishing, kayaks, canoes and electric-motor boats, with walking paths for dogs on leads. The local school closed in 1995 when Harcourt Valley Primary School opened.
