In conjunction with the 2019 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, the Bendigo Region will be hosting an array of exciting Food and Beverage related activities and events to further the profile of our Regions abundance of offerings.
Regional World’s Longest Lunch – Bendigo
Date: 15 March
Bendigo’s leafy Rosalind Park is the setting for this celebration of one of Victoria’s most important goldrush towns. At a single long table stretching along the park’s picturesque boulevard of trees, guests will enjoy a six-course menu from the chefs at Wine Bank on View with a focus on regionally sourced food. This will be accompanied by wines from local wineries that have been selected by a panel of Bendigo sommeliers and wine merchants, some whom will be on hand to discuss the wine strengths of the region.
The Ultimate Wagyu Experience
Date: 15 March
Wagyu is the celebrity of the beef world and this intimate dinner at The Woodhouse will showcase why. Chef Paul Pitcher has assembled a roll call of the best Australian wagyu from Sher Wagyu, Robbins Island and Everything Wagyu that will highlight a range of cuts and aging methods over five courses. The beef’s star power will be matched with exceptional wines from Jasper Hill, Pondalowie and Sutton Grange wineries.
Laneway Fiesta
Date: 16 March
Pintxos, tapas, sangria and live music set in the heart of Bendigo down Chancery Lane. The illuminated laneway will come alive with classic Spanish cuisine, flowing sangria and live flamenco guitar.
River Feast with Karen Martini
Date: 16 March
The highlight of the Loddon Valley Food and Wine Expo, the River Feast offers a three-course lunch prepared by chef Karen Martini (Better Homes and Gardens), served grazing platter-style, matched with local wines, as diners overlook the expo in full swing against the background of the picturesque Loddon River. Afterwards, take a wander around stalls showcasing the region’s gourmet food and wine, all to a soundtrack of live music and entertainment. Luncheon tickets includes entry into the event, a three-course lunch with grazing platters, all drinks inclusive and a keepsake wine glass. Live entertainment and food and wine tastings available in the outside area. For those not attending the lunch, entry to the expo is $10 (entry only) or $20 for entry, food and wine tastings and take home wine glass. Gates open at 9.30am to 4pm
Whisky Experience
Date: 16 March
Learn about the history, distillations processes and regional diversity of whisky at this fun and informative tasting session. Start with a signature Dispensary G&T before sampling five whiskies from across the globe. Our infamous steamed bao bun will compliment the liquid delight.
