Advice for renting
Applying for a rental property in Bendigo can be quite difficult considering the consistently low vacancy rate here over the past 15 years.
Here are a few pointers to help you with your application, which will hopefully save time for everyone.
At The Inspection
- Make yourself known to the property manager
- Make sure you are well presented and organised
- Be punctual
You need to show you are organised with your application form – here are some hints:
- Make sure your form is filled out correctly and neatly
- Have all appropriate areas signed (particularly the privacy provisions)
- Have a copy of your license (or passport) attached to your application
- Disclose all information (including pets) – or your application will be null and void
- Include extra details or references if you have them
References
Your most important references are your previous landlords or real estate agency you rented through (or sold through). You need to show an accurate record of the properties you have owned or rented for at least the last two to three properties you have been in.
Also important are your professional references such as your employer, manager, boss, supervisor or even community leader or people you liaise with on community work or charity work.
Not so important are your friends and family (unless you are using your parents as guarantor for a property).
